Africa Organics Baobab Clay Wash | Kalahari Melon Body Wash & Lotion

When it comes to choosing natural products, it’s all about safety and effectiveness for me.  A brand I’ve come to love for those reasons is Africa Organics.

Africa Organics

Choosing natural products doesn’t mean having to accept ineffective products.  We do 100% natural, certified organic hair and body care products.

The range is free of all harmful chemicals including parabens, petrochemicals, sulphated surfactants, silicons, animal products, ethoxylated or PEG ingredients, propylene glycol or any other ingredients red-flagged by Ecocert standards.

I first tried out some products from their haircare about a year ago and this time I’m trying out their bodycare products.

Body Washes – we use pH balanced, biodegradable foaming agents that are better for your skin and the planet.  The surfactants – we chose not to use sulphated surfactants even though they would have kept the price down. They are really bad for skin and we don’t see how switching from Sodium Lauryl Sulphate to Sodium Coco Sulphate makes much difference. We’ve used glucosides and amino acid based surfactants that are far milder on skin and rapidly biodegradable.

Body Lotions – we use organic oils and plant actives to nourish and hydrate your skin.  Emulsifiers – over the last ten years, we’ve honed our capacity to generate stable, low pH emulsions that are rapidly biodegradable and 100% natural. So our body lotions and conditioners are stabilised at pH 5 (the natural pH of skin) and are great for keeping the microbes on your skin and scalp in balance.

Africa Organics Baobab Clay Wash (210ml | £12.82)

This is really weird wash! It’s a clay… but it foams. We’ve used Bentonite clay as a mild exfoliant and for its ability to draw toxins from the skin. Then we’ve added Baobab Fruit powder to make sure that your skin isn’t stripped and dry when you’re done.

  • Bentonite clay is a natural healing remedy that draws toxins out of the skin. It absorbs all sorts of impurities and harsh chemicals, while helping to soothe skin irritations and conditions like allergies, eczema and psoriasis.
  • Baobab powder is packed with the power of antioxidants and vitamin C. Baobab tones the skin and improves elasticity; it combats free radical damage and prevents the signs of ageing. This indigenous botanical extract also provides hydration, so the bentonite clay won’t strip or dry out your skin.
  • Aloe vera is wonderfully soothing and cooling on sensitive skin.
  • Marula oil is full of vitamins C and E, as well as essential fatty acids to nourish and rejuvenate your skin.

  • 100% of the total ingredients are from natural origin
  • 96% of vegetable ingredients are from Organic Farming
  • 20% of the total ingredients are from Organic Farming

I love the idea of a clay body wash so I was eager to try this out.  The consistency is slightly thick but it comes out of the tube easily.  It has a lovely warm and citrus scent which is uplifting and energizing, perfect to help kick-start my morning.
It is a lightly foaming body wash and I love that it deep cleanses and exfoliates the skin but it also hydrates and nourishes at the same time.  My skin feels really clean, soft and smooth afterwards.

Africa Organics Kalahari Melon Body Wash (210ml | £11.28)

This wash is perfect for sensitive skin. We use mild, biodegradable foaming agents and add anti-oxidants from Rooibos and Honeybush. Kalahari Melon has omega-6’s to help condition your skin and we’ve only used two fragrance oils – Orange and Frankincense.

The Kalahari Melon is an important source of water for the nomadic San people of the Kalahari Desert. The high Phytosterol and Omega-6 levels give it strong moisturizing, restructuring and anti-ageing properties

I love that this body wash is ideal for sensitive and delicate skin.  You don’t need a great deal as it lathers well and has a comforting fruity fragrance.  I decided to try it on my kids and it works really well for their eczema prone skin.  It is really gentle and soothing and leaves the skin soft and refreshed afterwards.

I’m pretty chuffed this is ideal for the whole family and we can all enjoy using it.

A light, non-greasy daily lotion, that naturally delivers long-lasting hydration. Pre-biotic Inulin optimises skin micro-flora to assist skins natural function. Brightening Kigelia relieves skin dullness while Omega-rich Kalahari Melon nourishes and replenishes the skin of lost moisture. Skin is left soft, smooth and glowing with health.

This body lotion is so yummy, the scent is fresh and uplifting.  The consistency is just perfect for summer… lightweight and it absorbs quickly.  I’m not a fan of products that you have to spend time rubbing in.
It feels really moisturising and leaves my skin silky soft and smooth without any sticky or oily residue.  I also use it on my kids and it’s great for their delicate sensitive skin.

I’m very happy with these products, in fact the entire Africa Organics range is amazing and I definitely recommend them.
